The Ark Animal Hospital is offering Acupuncture as part of our routine pet treatments. Acupuncture is an ancient form of medical treatment, and is believed to have possibly originated in India at least 7000 years ago. Acupuncture for animals is nearly as old a remedy as for humans, and the central concept behind it for you or your dog  is the same. It can be used on all species of animals, and has documented efficacy on a wide range of species including dogs and cats.

Acupuncture is a non-invasive therapy for a wide range of conditions afflicting pets and can be performed as an addition to regular treatment. There is evidence of the success of acupuncture for treating disorders of the reproductive, musculoskeletal, neurologic, pulmonary, gastrointestinal and dermatologic systems.

All procedures are performed by our staff member Marta. She is an experienced therapist in acupuncture and laser therapy. Marta has worked in Europe and but also holds an Australian certification for Acupuncture.

How do I know whether acupuncture is right for my pet?

During your initial consultation at The Ark Animal Hospital your pet will be checked to determine whether Acupuncture is a suitable treatment option for the diagnosed condition. Since this treatment is cumulative (becomes more effective over time) multiple treatment sessions are recommended.
