Dr. Jane Giliam

Jane was born in New Zealand, but grew up in South Africa. Always knowing that she would be a vet, despite the parochial challenges faced by young women in South Africa in the 1970’s, she qualified as a horse riding instructor, training the mounted police; and as an SPCA inspector, working in the African homelands with indigenous people and their animals in remote communities.

After returning to New Zealand with her husband Charles and daughter Megan, Jane studied veterinary science at Massey University. She has worked at the RSPCA in Wellington and in various mixed and small animal practices around New Zealand.

She is owned by a Dachshund, Brock, and Jessie J, a Rottie X Collie rescue, who came across from New Zealand when Charles and Jane moved to Darwin. Along with the benefits of acupuncture in animals, Jane has a special interest in animal welfare and wildlife, wishing to promote a greater awareness of the human-animal bond and the importance and value of animals in our lives.
