Coastal Carpet Pythons in Darwin
More and more Wildlife Rescue Darwin is send out for Coastal Carpet Pythons. Not very special you might think, but these Coastal Carpet Pythons are not from The Northern Territory. You can find these pythons on the East-coast of Australia and are also known as the Queensland Carpet Python. They are often kept as pets and the snakes that are found by the Rescue Centre Darwin are probably escaped pets. Another possibility is that they have started breeding up here, because they could survive in this climate. The Coastal Carpet Python is a subspecies of the Carpet Python which you also can find in Darwin, also known as the Darwin Carpet Pythons. The big difference is the coloration and the patterning. They can be up to 3 meters and look dangerous, but pythons are harmless to people and only eat small mammals.
